Subway turned into a work of art by day and night
Isabelle Corten and Sibelga are reinventing the codes for lighting in subways in the Brussels-Capital region.

As part of the Lighting Plan for the municipality of Jette, Sibelga and LEC have developed a technical solution to light the subway linking the Cardinal Mercier square and the train station.

To light this unappealing passageway, the vision of lighting designer, was “…to make a work of art, create a fun passageway between these two entities [editor’s note, the station and the square) … and to make these often difficult and forgotten places seem shorter by playing with colour.
Colour is key, it transforms the space and even gives graffiti another dimension, making it appears part of the work. Here, the alternate white and orange is almost reminiscent of a seaside resort!”

#Prix de l'ACEtylène 2017 (Lighting Designers Awards) in the "Low Budget" category of lighting design for coloured pathways.
#Mention spéciale (Special Mention) from the Règles d'Or de l'Urbanisme bruxellois
